Eligibility
Eligibility for SEA’s ‘Paddle Manhattan’ - seapaddlenyc.org
Due to governmental permitting requirements and the inherent risks involved in this event, Surfers’ Environmental Alliance can accept only a limited number of entrants in SEAPaddleNYC. Selection criteria for the event are listed below. Participants must meet and agree to the criteria listed below.

1. Entry fee is $400 for the paddle and $450 for the Elite Race. Click here to register.
2. Solo paddlers must have previously participated in endurance paddling events and be a highly proficient stand–up paddler/ surfer. If paddling in prone position, you must use specialized long-distance paddleboard. No longboard surfboards are permitted.
3. A minimum of $1,000 of donations must be collected or committed by the August 1st in order to participate. Paddlers may substitute donations by contributing auction items that are equal to or greater than two times the minimum donation ($2000). Examples include collectable surfboards, artwork, vacation home usage or sponsor products. Substitution acceptance is at the sole discretion of SEA Auction Chairs and must be agreed upon no later than 14 days prior to the paddle.
4. Participants with the ability to provide a chase/support boat or PWC for the event which can be shared with or provide assistance to other paddlers will be given extra consideration in the final selection process.
5. SEA Paddle Committee and its designated appointees shall have sole discretion to select applicants for the event and to disqualify any participant during the event if in SEA’s determination the participant is deemed (a) unfit to participate, (b) acting in a reckless or negligent manner, (c) presenting a danger to themselves or others, (d) appear injured or ill during the event, or (e) for any other reason as determined by SEA.
6. Fee and waivers are due upon sign up but donation minimum may be submitted at a later date. You are not signed up if your fee is not paid.
7. Participants must sign and submit a liability waiver prior to event in the unlikely case of injury or death.
8. Participants must be at least 16 years old as of event date. Anyone under 21 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.
9. Participants must adhere to all event regulations. Paddler MUST stay in formation and paddle North up the Hudson River- Paddlers will enter the water at the appropriate time via a dock with water access.
10. Participants must adhere to all event regulations.
11. General Race Rules: (see PDF for complete list)
- No drafting is allowed.
- No wake riding from support boats.
- No touching support boats unless boat is at a complete stop with motor off.
- Individual support or team boats are welcome but must be registered with the race director.
